I play a lot of guitar and have been doing so since I was 13.
I’m well suited to being a session guitarist because of my versatility, strong sense of melody & rhythm, my musical ear, inventiveness and my appreciation of the role the guitar plays within a song. I also have a professional work ethic.
It’s not all about show off solos!
I work quickly and bring fresh ideas to the sessions I do and I’m very comfortable taking direction.
My clients come to me because I have a strong understanding of how to arrange guitar parts that complement the song and other instruments.
Like lots of young guitarists, I started out by studying the techniques of players such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Slash, B.B King, John Frusciante, Johnny Greenwood, Graham Coxon and Thurston Moore who were all a huge influence for me early on.
I also love David Byrne, Adrian Belew, Kurt Cobain, Adrian Utley, Trent Reznor and others who aren’t necessarily known for their guitar playing.
B.B. King once said how important it is to find your own voice on the instrument and that inspired me.
After many years with my own bands writing original material (sadly we never had much commercial success), I developed a passion for contemporary music and I’m constantly seeking the latest, boundary pushing sounds from all styles where guitar is used in less traditional ways.
