Last month I spent eight solid days and nights at the 2nd best studio in the World, Rockfield. I was recruited by song-writer, drummer, singer, multi-instrumentalist & friend Sam Walker along with five others to record 19 tracks.
Sam chose Rockfield mainly due to it’s excellent separation and live room because the priority was to capture live performances of the songs. 137 takes later, we left feeling like we’d put down some amazing material & the vibe over the eight days was one of work hard, have fun, relax and be creative. Perfect!
I took my new Fender Telecaster Deluxe Black Dove (with P90 pickups), my Epiphone Swingster, Fender Jaguar & 62 reissue stratocaster… plus an arsenal of effects pedals. My new Crowther Hot Cake overdrive, Electro-Harmonix POG2, Superego & Ibanez UE300 (rare multi FX from 1982) all got plenty of use and my Fender Hotrod Deluxe was worked extremely hard for 14 hours a day without breaking!
Looking forward to hearing the mixed & finished tracks as well as hopefully touring the album later in the year!
